FREE PRELIMINARY BRAND CHECK

Check your brand before you build it.

Check the domain and the social handles live, in a minute. The trademark register is a separate search, and we will show you how to run that one properly.

This preliminary check reviews live domain registration records and public social profiles for the name you give us. It is informational only. It is not a legal opinion, not a complete clearance search, and not a guarantee of registration.

WHAT THIS CHECK COVERS

Two things checked live. Everything else, named honestly.

CHECKED LIVE

Domain registrations

We query public domain registry records for .com, .net, .org, .co and .io at the moment you run the check. Registration does not confirm active use or ownership intent, only that the name is taken.

CHECKED LIVE

Public social profiles

We check whether a matching public profile resolves on Instagram, TikTok and X. Some platforms block automated checks, and where that happens we report it as unverified rather than guessing.

FULL SEARCH REQUIRED

USPTO trademark records

A live USPTO register search is not part of this quick check. The full search cross-references federal registrations, pending applications and common-law use before you file.

FULL SEARCH REQUIRED

Business and LLC records

State business registries are not queried here. A full search reviews filings for confusingly similar names.

FULL SEARCH REQUIRED

Marketplaces

Amazon, Etsy, eBay and Shopify listings are not scanned in this quick check.

FULL SEARCH REQUIRED

Web and search results

General web results are not scanned in this quick check.

FULL SEARCH REQUIRED

Images

Visual brand signals are not scanned in this quick check.

FULL SEARCH REQUIRED

News and PR

Public mentions and announcements are not scanned in this quick check.

THE CHECK THIS ONE DOES NOT DO

The register is the search that decides it.

A free domain and a free handle tell you the name is available to use. They tell you nothing about whether somebody already owns it. That answer is in the USPTO register, it is free to search, and the reason people get it wrong is that they search only their own spelling — the USPTO can refuse a mark that merely resembles one already registered.

Our trademark search planner builds the list of searches worth running for your name — the exact spelling, the sound-alikes an examiner would compare it to, the distinctive stem, and the classes covering what you sell — and hands it to you to run on the USPTO's own system. It is free and it returns no verdict about your name, because we hold no copy of the register.

ANSWERS

What the free check does, and does not, do.

The limits matter more than the features here — a check that oversells itself is worse than no check at all.

Is the free brand check a legal clearance search?

No. It is a preliminary signal check: live domain registrations and public social profiles under your name, explained in plain English. A full clearance search reviews the federal register, state registers and common-law use, and is carried out by an attorney. Treat this as the first look, not the last word.

Does the check search the USPTO register?

Not today. The check covers domains and social handles. We say so plainly rather than implying a register search we do not perform, and an attorney reviews the register before anything is filed.

Does a clear result mean my name is safe to use?

No. Nothing found is not the same as nothing there. Common-law rights can exist without any registration or website, and a name can still be refused as merely descriptive even with no conflicting mark at all.

Do I need a card, or an account?

No card, ever, and no account to start one. We ask for an email to send the report to.

What happens after the check?

You get a written report you keep. If you want to go further, filing is $199 plus the USPTO's $350 per class. There is no obligation, and we will say if we think filing is a bad idea.
