ABOUT

Who we are, and who checks what you read here.

My Trademark Vault is an independent trademark filing-assistance and brand-screening service. We help business owners file, understand where their application stands, and keep what they have registered. We are not a law firm, and the reference library on this site is reviewed by a named person rather than published anonymously.

WHO REVIEWS THIS CONTENT

Sherise S Henry

Sherise S Henry has around seventeen years of trademark search and consultancy experience as a paralegal staff member, and has supported hundreds of business owners through the trademark filing process. She reviews the informational content published on this site — the status-code library, the glossary, the guides and the explanatory articles — and keeps it up to date as USPTO practice changes.

Sherise is not an attorney and does not provide legal advice. Her role is to check that what we publish is accurate, current and clearly expressed. If your situation needs legal judgment about your own mark, that is a matter for a licensed US trademark attorney, and we say so on the pages where it applies rather than only here.

HOW WE RESEARCH THIS

What we will and will not publish

These are not aspirations. You can check every one of them against the pages themselves.

Official wording, quoted exactly

Where the USPTO publishes a status description, we reproduce the office's own string verbatim — including its spacing and capitalisation — so you can compare it against your own record character for character. Our plain-English explanation sits beside it and is labelled as ours.

We say when we do not know

Our status-code directory reproduces a named, published USPTO table and states plainly that no official document claims to be a complete live list. Search a number that is not in it and the page tells you so, rather than inventing a meaning to fill the space.

Deadlines come from the regulation

Any deadline we state is read off the current rule rather than recalled or copied from another site. Where a response period depends on your actual document and filing basis, we refuse to quote a number and send you to the letter itself, because that is the only authoritative source for your file.

We tell you when to hire someone else

Our pages on oppositions, cancellations and appeals say plainly that the work needs a trademark litigator and that a filing service is the wrong tool. That costs us the sale, and it is the honest answer.

No invented proof

We do not publish fabricated reviews, testimonials, authors, case studies or citations. Where we have not written a guide on something, we say so instead of padding one out.

Corrections are made, and recorded

When we find an error we fix it at the source and leave a note explaining what was wrong. A recent example: a code our own directory listed for months is not a USPTO status code at all, and removing it meant correcting several pages that referred to it.

WHAT WE ARE NOT

The limits, stated once and plainly

We are not a law firm, we do not provide legal advice, and using this service does not create an attorney-client relationship with My Trademark Vault. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an agency of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Where a matter requires legal judgment — most notably a contested office action — a licensed US trademark attorney reviews the work before it is released. Where the USPTO requires an applicant to be represented, most notably applicants domiciled outside the United States, that attorney is appointed as attorney of record on the filing. That relationship is with the filing itself, as USPTO rules require; it does not make this company your law firm.

We cannot guarantee that an application will be approved or registered, that a particular scope of protection will be granted, or that a response will succeed. Those decisions belong to the USPTO. Our disclaimer and terms of use set this out in full.

Content on this site is general information about USPTO procedure, not legal advice about your situation. Last reviewed 20 October 2026. Found something wrong? Tell us and we will check it against the source and correct it.
