A further final refusal has been sent
Official wording: Subsequent Final Mailed.
You have received another final refusal after an earlier one. A deadline is running, and the realistic options at this point are narrower than they were - but narrower is not none.
What a subsequent final usually means
A final refusal was issued, something happened - a request for reconsideration, an amendment, new evidence - and the examiner has considered it and maintained the refusal, or issued a further final on a new point raised by your own amendment. The examiner is signalling that the back-and-forth on this issue has ended.
The deadline is real and it is the same kind as before
Read the response date printed on the document in TSDR. Letting it pass abandons the application for failure to respond, and the filing fees go with it.
Appeal is now the main road
Repeating an argument the examiner has already rejected twice rarely succeeds. What changes a final refusal at this stage is an appeal to the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board on a genuine point of law, an amendment that removes the objection rather than arguing against it, or new evidence that did not exist before. An appeal has its own deadlines and its own costs.
This is where a candid assessment earns its fee
Some refusals are worth appealing and some are not, and the difference is usually visible from the file. A likelihood-of-confusion refusal against a closely similar registered mark in the same class is a hard appeal. A descriptiveness refusal where you have years of use and real evidence of acquired distinctiveness is a different conversation. Either way this is attorney territory, not paperwork.
Confirm this against your own record
Status code descriptions are administered inside USPTO systems and published wording varies slightly between sources. Your file is the authority. Enter your serial number in TSDR to see your current status, every document filed, and any live deadline.
