Your declaration of continued use was accepted and the registration stays alive
Official wording: SECTION 8-ACCEPTED
The USPTO has accepted your Section 8 declaration of continued use. Your registration remains in force. This is good news, and it comes with the next deadline attached.
What you just cleared
A Section 8 declaration proves you are still using the mark in commerce. For a registration under the 1946 Act it is due on or after the fifth anniversary of registration and no later than the sixth, with a six-month grace period afterwards that carries a surcharge. You filed it and it was accepted, so nothing is outstanding today.
The next window is the nine-to-ten-year one
A combined Section 8 and Section 9 filing is due in the year before the tenth anniversary of registration, and then in the year before the end of every ten-year period after that. A six-month grace period follows each deadline, with a surcharge. Miss both windows and the registration is cancelled or expires - not suspended.
Section 15 is the one most owners skip
If you have five consecutive years of continuous use after registration, you can file a Section 15 declaration to make the registration incontestable, which sharply limits the grounds on which somebody can later challenge it. It is optional, it is not expensive relative to what it protects, and the five-year mark has usually just passed by the time you are reading this code.
Nobody reminds you
The USPTO does not send maintenance reminders you can rely on, and correspondence goes to the email of record, which for a ten-year-old registration is frequently an address nobody checks. A registration lost to a missed Section 8 is the most avoidable loss in trademark practice.
