USPTO STATUS 800

The registration has been renewed and remains in force

Official wording: REGISTERED AND RENEWED

Your registration has passed a renewal and is live. In US practice a trademark can be renewed indefinitely as long as it stays in use and the filings are made, so this code can repeat every ten years for the life of the brand.

What renewal proved

A renewal application has to be filed in the year before the registration expires, with a six-month grace period after the expiration date. Yours was filed and accepted, together with the continued-use declaration that falls due in the same window.

The next window opens in roughly nine years

A combined Section 8 and Section 9 filing is due in the year before the end of each ten-year period after registration, with the same six-month grace period and surcharge behind it. That is a long enough gap that the business, the staff and the email address of record all tend to change before it comes round again - which is exactly why renewals get missed.

A renewed registration is worth more than a new one

Years on the register, continuous use and an unbroken maintenance history all strengthen the mark - in enforcement, in licensing and in the value of the business. This is an asset with a track record, not just a certificate.

Renewal is not enforcement

The USPTO keeps your registration on the register; it does not look for people using your mark. Rights can weaken if infringement goes unchallenged for long enough, so the practical risk to a long-held registration is usually imitation in the market rather than anything at the office.

Check that your details are current

Owner name, entity type and address changes should be recorded. A registration still listing a dissolved entity or a former address creates avoidable problems at the next renewal and in any dispute.

Confirm this against your own record

Status code descriptions are administered inside USPTO systems and published wording varies slightly between sources. Your file is the authority. Enter your serial number in TSDR to see your current status, every document filed, and any live deadline.
